Other Training Opportunities

students working in a lab

To foster interest in scientific research early in the educational careers of students, our lab hosts students enrolled in the University of Chicago (UC) Pritzker School of Medicine pipeline programs and the Biological Sciences Division Summer Research Program. We will also host students participating in the Summer Fellowships in the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division program (undergraduate UC students only).                                                                                  While assisting scientists and technicians in our lab on current cancer research projects, students will increase their understanding of cancer genetics and learn important experimental techniques. Examples of past student research projects include:

  • Prophylactic oophorectomy in BRCA1/2 mutation carriers
  • UGT polymorphisms and breast cancer risk
  • VEGFxxxb, microvessel density, and promacs in breast tumor progression
  • Evidence of an acute myeloid leukemia suppressor gene on 16q
