Zakiya N. Franklin

Clinical Research Outreach Coordinator

 

 

A graduate of the University of Michigan where she earned a B.S. in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science, Ms. Franklin is currently a Clinical Research Outreach Coordinator for the Cancer Risk Clinic were she focuses her work on breast cancer disparities.  Her work also intersects with the Community Engagement Centering on Solutions (CECOS) team led by Dr. Rick Kittles, which provides education on cancer prevention, early detection, and control in community settings.  She is also a member of the Greater Roseland Breast Cancer Task Force and a Certified Mammacare Breast Self Exam Instructor.  She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health with a focus in Behavioral Science and Health Promotion. Ms. Franklin is passionate about improving health disparities in the African-American community and to that end she continues to live out her motto, “the gift you have received, give as a gift.”
