The Center for Clinical Cancer Genetics at the University of Chicago Medical Center is committed to reducing the burden of cancer and other diseases both within the United States and around the world. By integrating research, education, and clinical practice, we bring the brightest minds together to work towards developing preventative services, life-saving treatments, and diagnostic technologies. Every day we strive to offer our patients unparalled treatment in their fight against cancer and the hope of preventing it for others.
Armed with a better understanding of the human genome and access to affordable means of genetic testing for individuals, the Center for Clinical Cancer Genetics is now able to use genetics as an enhanced means of cancer prevention and precision medicine. Through the use of genetics, patients are now receiving tailored preventative care that is based on their family history and personal risk for cancer. With this shift toward preventative screening and services, the center aims to reduce the prevalence of cancer and the burden it can impose by detecting it early and customizing treatment strategies.
